Having played under several other monikers including The Nuns and The Transients, it was parting ways with The Portlands that nudged Dook Dootson to take the plunge and go solo.

It was 8pm, the day before a booked studio session for the next Portlands release that the band broke up. He could either sit back and wallow or grab it by the heels and plough through. He sat down with his guitar and wrote two new songs – One Final Moment and Follow You, staying up through the night to finish the lyrics. Then, just 12 hours later, he grabbed his camera, his guitar and his amp and drove for two hours to North Wales to meet producer Tom Loffman.

The two had never met before, but struck up an immediate musical bond – now playing keys on the upcoming European tour. Dook played through the tracks and they began - recording all the instruments themselves, with no other band members. After two
recording sessions at Bryn Derwen, Wales and two mixing sessions at Kings Crossing, London, a new EP - ‘A Path To Trace’ was born.
